Don P. Giddens

"Know Your Arteries, Know Thyself"

Don P. Giddens, Ph.D. is the Dean of the College of Engineering and the Lawrence L. Gellerstedt, Jr. Chair in Bioengineering & Georgia Research Alliance Eminent Scholar at Georgia Institute of Technology. His research is in the areas of biofluid mechanics, bBlood velocity and spectral estimations from Doppler ultrasound, hemodynamics of the carotid bifurcation, effects of fluid dynamics on vascular function and vessel adaptation, and patency of small caliber vascular grafts.

He received his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Aerothermodynamics from Georgia Institute of Technology.

Selected Awards include; Elected into the National Academy of Engineering in 1999;and recipient of the H.R. Lissner Award, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Winter Annual Meeting 1993 (highest award for Bioengineering in ASME).
