Bourns College Of Engineering Receives National Award For Diversity

Bourns College of Engineering at UC Riverside has been selected to receive one of the three prestigious 2009 Claire Felbinger Awards for Diversity. The Claire L. Felbinger Award for Diversity is presented to recognize U.S. based educational units, individuals, associations, and firms for extraordinary success in achieving and facilitating diversity and inclusiveness in the technological segments of our society. The 2009 awards will be conferred on Wednesday, October 28, in San Antonio, Texas, during the 2009 ABET Commission Summit.

ABET, Inc. is the professional engineering accreditation agency providing leadership and quality assurance in applied science, computing, engineering and technology education. UCR’s programs in engineering and computer science are ABET-accredited. Responding to the announcement, Dean, Reza Abbaschian said the Felbinger Award symbolizes UC Riverside’s overall commitment and contribution to the diversity goals of the nation’s higher education community. “Our emphasis is on educating and training a diverse group of students with the latest cutting edge technologies and methodologies that will place them in a competitive position at the forefront of the engineering profession.”
