Carissa Reynolds Selected for NSF IGERT Fellowship

June 19, 2013

Carissa ReynoldsCarissa, a 3rd year Ph.D. student working with Dr. Hyle Park, has been selected for the NSF IGERT Program in Video Bioinformatics, and will start her fellowship this Fall. Her research is focused on using optical coherence tomography (OCT), which is an optical imaging technique, to image and detect Cerebral edema over time. Cerebral edema is an increase in brain water content and can be caused by a variety of conditions including traumatic brain injury, stroke and infection.

The Vision of the Video Bioinformatics IGERT is to integrate expertise from the life sciences, computer science, electrical engineering, and bioengineering to enable breakthrough capabilities in understanding biological processes that are by nature continuous and dynamic.
