Biomedical Engineering Society

Throughout the 2012-2013 academic year, the Biomedical Engineering Society has provided various services throughout the Bourns College of Engineering at the University of California, Riverside as well as the community. It has been our mission to aid students in developing professional skills and providing resources for use throughout their careers. By becoming a member of BMES, the students are more prepared for their futures within the engineering field.

We had an increased priority this academic year in promoting professional development. Some of our general meetings included resume, internship, and interview workshops. We participated in many company tours throughout the year to companies such as Abbott Vascular and Medtronic. During Spring Break we hosted a trip to Northern California where members attended the San Jose Biomedical Device Conference.

BMES also developed student camaraderie within BCoE this year. In Winter Quarter, we hosted a dodgeball tournament that included over 200 participants in hopes of reducing stress during midterms. Spring Quarter included a pancake breakfast held within Bourns for students to feast in preparation for Finals Week. BMES is proud to be an organization that helps encourage Bioengineers to not only grow, but also promotes the building of a network that will last a lifetime.
