Devin McBride Accepts Assistant Professor Position at University of Texas Medical Health Science Center

August 07, 2017

Devin McBride

Congratulations to Dr. Devin McBride (PhD, 2013) for joining the University of Texas Medical Health Science Center in the McGovern Medical School in the Department of Neurosurgery.

After graduating with his PhD in 2013 under the direction of Professor V. G. J. Rodgers, Devin joined Dr. John Zhang's neurosurgery research group at Loma Linda University School of Medicine, where he worked until June, 2017.

His current research focuses on understanding and identifying new therapeutic targets and therapeutics and developing novel medical devices for the treatment of delayed cerebral ischemia following subarachnoid hemorrhage. Delayed cerebral ischemia is a major complication after subarachnoid hemorrhage affecting up to 40% of surviving patients, and is a risk factor for poor prognosis after subarachnoid hemorrhage. To date, clinical trials of treatments for delayed cerebral ischemia have failed, in part, due to the lack of understanding of its pathophysiology.
